From October 8 to 18, the Norwegian festival hosts a program dedicated to Catalan contemporary dance, supported by the Institut Ramon Llull. The participation includes performances, premieres, and professional activities across various venues in Oslo, showcasing the diversity of current choreographic languages.
Paloma Muñoz will open the festival with La Quijá, a production by the Mercat de les Flors, on October 8 and 9 at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet. This large-format work, performed by ten dancers, explores the body as the origin of creative force.
Choreographer Inka Romaní will present two pieces at Riksscena: Volvamos al baile, a reflection on ideological control during Franco's regime, and El demonio del cuerpo, an investigation into movement, discipline, and power based on materials from the Sección Femenina.
Choreographer Oulouy will bring Black to the festival, a performance reflecting on Black identity, structural violence, and emancipation, blending urban dances from Africa and the African diaspora at the Kloden Teater.
Aina Alegre will present FUGACES on October 15 at Bærum Kulturhus, inspired by the figure of Carmen Amaya and exploring the transmission of bodily memory. Alegre will also offer an open workshop on rhythm and movement.
Finally, choreographer Daniel Mariblanca will premiere Easy Target on October 17 and 18 at Scenehuset. The creation focuses on the experiences of young trans individuals, exploring identity, freedom, and mental health through dance.
