The former Royal Foundry of Cannons, located at the start of La Rambla in Barcelona, will become the Digital Culture Centre of Catalonia and the urban gateway to Catalunya Media City, a major audiovisual and digital hub.

The facility, scheduled to open its doors in 2028, will span 3,300 square meters across four floors. Its activities will be structured in two main dimensions: it will be a centre open to the public, dedicated to the exhibition and experience of digital art, cultural mediation, and training; and a centre for creation, for research, project incubation, and talent development.
With a total investment of 13 million euros, La Foneria will position Catalan digital art internationally and foster connections between urban creativity and the country's technological production. This initiative is part of the Government's strategy to create a leading cultural system.
La Foneria will serve as the urban gateway to Catalunya Media City (CMC), the core of which is being developed around the Tres Xemeneies and the Parc Audiovisual de Catalunya in Terrassa. The new facility will support the Catalan creative ecosystem and position Catalonia as one of Europe's major hubs for the audiovisual, digital, and video game industries.
