The Lexia special education school, located in the el Coll neighborhood, will transition to the public network for the 2026-2027 academic year following a municipal acquisition.

The Barcelona Education Consortium has announced the purchase of the school building at Gomis 102 for 1.5 million euros. This marks the first time a subsidized special education school in the city has been integrated into the public system, preserving 90 student places.

"Being part of the system allows us to network with other services, such as health or social welfare."

The project includes an additional 850,000 euro investment for accessibility upgrades. The 1,690-square-meter facility will undergo renovations to install elevators and widen classroom doors to meet Department of Education standards.
