A man was injured this afternoon in the La Mina neighborhood, in Sant Adrià de Besòs, after several shots were fired in the street. The Mossos d’Esquadra received a report from witnesses who alerted them to hearing detonations in the area. Upon arrival, officers found several projectile casings on the ground.
In parallel, officers became aware that a person had presented themselves at a health center with injuries compatible with a firearm. The Catalan police are now investigating the events and the possible connection of this individual to the incident.
This incident occurs just a few days after other firearm incidents in the city of Barcelona. On June 27, two people were injured, one of them seriously, in a shooting in the Bon Pastor neighborhood. Days earlier, on June 24, a confrontation between drug trafficking gangs led to a shooting in an apartment in the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera neighborhood.
In the last two months, between mid-May and mid-June, four fatal shootings have occurred in broad daylight. On June 10, a person was shot dead on Balmes street, and a few days earlier, on June 8, another man died from gunshot wounds in Marina de Port. This latter incident occurred a few meters from another similar shooting that also resulted in a fatality on May 16.
