The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested two men, aged 24 and 40, in Castelló d'Empúries last Thursday, July 9th, after discovering they were driving a stolen car with a gun and 24 bullets inside.

The arrest occurred around midday when a patrol stopped the vehicle during a routine check. Officers became suspicious of the occupants due to irregularities detected on the car's license plates.
Upon conducting the relevant checks, police confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen a week prior in Begur, in the Baix Empordà region. The theft had been reported between the evening of July 1st and the morning of July 2nd, originating from a fenced garden of a house in the town.
The license plates did not match the car model, which further heightened the officers' suspicions. During the vehicle search, officers found a pistol with two magazines and the 24 bullets, hidden in a supermarket bag at the front passenger's feet. Lots, adhesive tape, mobile phones, and gloves were also seized.
The two men, who had no prior criminal record, were arrested for vehicle theft, forgery of public documents due to the license plate irregularities, and illegal possession of firearms. They have been brought before the court of inquiry in Figueres.
The police investigation remains open to determine the arrested individuals' intentions.
