The works on the section between Felip II and Fabra i Puig, underway since spring 2025, are now facing the final tasks on the roadway. From August 1st to 7th, work will be carried out on the lanes heading into the city, progressing from Fabra i Puig promenade towards Felip II street. At least one traffic lane will be kept open at all times. Protective elements on the road will be removed the night before the work begins.
From August 8th to the 14th, the work will move to the lanes heading out of the city. These will start at Felip II street and progress towards Fabra i Puig promenade. On the night of August 7th, the construction closures on this side of the avenue will be removed.
These works will affect public transport, especially intercity buses, which will make their final stop at Fabra i Puig. Only transit buses will circulate along Meridiana.
Before this main paving, on July 27th and 28th, paving work will be carried out at the intersections of Meridiana Avenue. On Monday, work will take place at the intersection of Concepción Arenal and Riera d’Horta streets with Meridiana, on Tuesday at the intersection of Dublín and Concepción Arenal streets with Meridiana, and on Wednesday at the intersection of Felip II.
The works are proceeding according to the planned schedule, with completion expected in autumn 2026. Almost all associated services have been completed, lighting and traffic light poles have been installed, and most of the vegetation has been planted. Until the project's end, work will continue on sidewalk paving, street furniture, children's play areas at the Sagrera node, flowerbeds, trees, the photovoltaic pergola, and road signage.
The new Meridiana will feature two lanes for general traffic and one for buses on each side. Bicycles will have a segregated central bike lane. Vegetation will be added to the sidewalks, with approximately 275 new trees and 7,200 m² of flowerbeds.
To enhance connectivity, new pedestrian crossings have been created on Honduras street, Martí Molins street (connecting to Masadas square), in the Pegàs-Dublín section, and on Jota street. This increases the number of pedestrian crossings from the previous nine to fifteen.
