The incident occurred around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Tarragona Street and Diputació Street. A cleaning auxiliary vehicle reportedly struck the pedestrian, who was seriously injured. The victim was transported to a hospital by the Emergency Medical System (SEM), where he sadly passed away shortly after.
Units from the Traffic Accident Investigation Unit (UCAT) of the Guàrdia Urbana were dispatched to the scene to conduct the relevant investigation and clarify the causes of the accident.
This death brings the total number of traffic accident fatalities in Barcelona this year to nine. The Barcelona City Council extends its condolences to the family and friends and reaffirms its commitment to continue working towards reducing traffic accident victims.
