At night in Barcelona, specifically in the Eixample district, concerning incidents have been detected. Young people approach individuals, often asking for a light, only to then violently assault them. These actions are recorded by the aggressors themselves, often with shouts like "Dona-li ja, dona-li ja" (Give it to him already), and subsequently shared on platforms like Instagram, where they become viral.
The assaults are described as random and without apparent motivation. In some videos, it can be observed how the aggressors quickly flee the scene in a car after committing the violence. This modus operandi has been repeated with both lone individuals and couples sitting on benches.
In response to this situation, the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) have launched an investigation to identify those responsible. The Catalan police are calling on all individuals who have suffered an assault of this nature to file a report at the Eixample police station or to contact them via social media.
According to police sources, investigators have already managed to locate one of the victims, who has filed a report. Although the aggressors have not yet been apprehended, their faces can be seen in some of the videos. The police are reviewing security cameras to obtain the license plate of the vehicle used in the getaways. The primary hypothesis is that these are gratuitous and random assaults, motivated solely by the desire to record and disseminate the acts on social media.
