The Sant Jordi festivity will transform Nou Barris into a cultural hub, offering an alternative to the crowded city center. Residents and visitors can enjoy literary contests, exhibitions, and talks dedicated to this traditional Catalan holiday.
Various locations in the district will host book and rose stalls throughout April 23. Notable spots include the Marquesina de la via Júlia (between Argullós street and Joaquim Valls street) and Plaça del Virrei Amat (at the intersection of Felip II street and Jota street). Additionally, the Centre Cívic Can Verdaguer will organize the 30th Book Exchange from April 7 to 30, and the Mercat de la Guineueta will offer a free rose for purchases over 20 euros.
Music will also play a significant role with the Habanera singing by the group L'Espingari on April 23 at the Casal de Barri de Prosperitat, and the Mar de Corals Concert on April 25 at the Casal de Barri de Trinitat Nova. The Centre Ton i Guida will host an Open Mic for poetry and music on April 17.
The cultural agenda is rounded out with several book presentations, such as La granja del Ritz by Teresa Roig on April 10 at the Casal de Barri de Prosperitat, No solo tiembla by Ramon Ricard on April 14 at the Centre Cívic Can Verdaguer, La núvia morta al país del vent by Rafael Jiménez on April 16 at the Centre Cívic Torre Llobeta, and Granadas abiertas impúdicamente by Pepa Cantanero on the same April 16 at the Centre Ton i Guida. Workshops and contests are also scheduled, including the children's drawing contest Desmuntant la llegenda de Sant Jordi and the 'Roses sense espines' Workshop at the Casa de l'Aigua on April 23.
