This new equipment, the result of collaboration between the Coordinadora de Colles Castelleres de Catalunya (CCCC), the company NZI, and the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, aims to optimize fixation and fit for different head sizes. It also expands protective coverage to the front and side areas of the head, incorporating a semi-rigid expanded polystyrene face shield that covers the eyebrows, nose bridge, and cheekbones.
The CCCC has reported that the introduction of the new helmet will be carried out "progressively and gradually." During a transition period, the old model, which has proven effective, will coexist with the new design. The CCCC does not plan an immediate withdrawal of current helmets but rather a progressive evolution towards the new model.
The new helmet and its complementary face shield, which is proposed as a voluntary option, will be officially presented on September 18th.
