The Orfeó Català choir performs this Thursday, March 19, inside the Sagrada Família in Barcelona to mark the 144th anniversary of the laying of the temple's first stone.

This concert is part of the Gaudí Year celebrations, coinciding with the centenary of Antoni Gaudí's death. Conducted by Xavier Puig, the repertoire features works by Millet, Mompou, and Pau Casals as a tribute to the generations of builders.
The program includes the Kyrie from Tomás Luis de Victoria's Requiem Mass, which was performed at Gaudí's funeral. The evening will conclude with a performance of Handel's Hallelujah from The Messiah.
The event features audiovisual projections and narrations about the history of the basilica and Gaudí's connection with the Orfeó Català. While only 2,000 people attend in person, the concert is being broadcast live on television and online platforms.
