Thousands of users, unions, and platforms demonstrated on Saturday afternoon in Barcelona, marching from Estació de França to Plaça Sant Jaume, demanding investment and management change in Rodalies after 18 days of collapse.

The protest, called by a dozen platforms such as Dignitat a les Vies, the Associació per a la Promoció del Transport Públic, Òmnium, CCOO, and UGT, began at five in the afternoon in front of Adif offices at Estació de França. Demonstrators marched through central Barcelona to denounce the "unsustainable" mobility situation in Catalonia to the Generalitat, with 150 entities adhering to the manifesto.

"It is over putting the burden of this misfortune on the users. The user no longer has patience; they have been pushed to the limit, they are physically and psychologically unwell."

Anna Gómez Llauradó · Spokesperson for Dignitat a les Vies
The organizers pointed to decades of systematic lack of investment in rail infrastructure by the State in Catalonia, coupled with poor system governance by Adif and Renfe. This crisis, which has caused total and partial service cuts, hour-long delays, and nearly 200 sections with speed restrictions, proves that the system "has hit rock bottom."

"We have a very serious reliability problem in public services and in the railway service. If the departments do not talk to each other, we will not get out of this."

Adrià Ramírez Papell · Spokesperson for the Associació per a la Promoció del Transport Públic
This afternoon mobilization was the second of the day in Barcelona, as thousands of people had already taken to the streets at noon, called by the ANC and the Consell de la República. The protests coincided with other major events, such as the farmers' concentration on the Gran Via, the celebration of the Chinese New Year, and the Barça match at Camp Nou, complicating city mobility.
