The new mixed company Rodalies de Catalunya, jointly owned by the Generalitat and Renfe, was formally constituted this Friday in Barcelona, with Minister Sílvia Paneque warning that immediate service improvements are not expected.

The signing of the constitution of the new commercial company, which has an initial share capital of two million euros, was formalized by the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, and the President of Renfe, Álvaro Fernández. The ceremony was attended by the Dean of the College of Notaries of Catalonia, José Alberto Marín, who attested to the agreement.

"We begin working with a clear roadmap: rigor, method, political and public responsibility, job well done, and service improvement. We cannot promise miracles, but we can promise rigor and planning."

The company, owned 50.1% by Renfe and 49.9% by the Generalitat, will not begin managing train services until 2027 at the earliest. This timeframe is necessary to obtain the railway company license, the safety certificate, and the railway contingency plan.
The new board of directors, chaired by Paneque, held its first meeting. The CEO will be Òscar Playà, former general director of the Barcelona Metro network. Paneque stressed that the objective is to establish the governance foundations to improve information and response to daily incidents, highlighting the role of the Government of Pere Aragonès in the negotiations.
