The High Court of Justice of Catalonia announced on Monday that the suspects face charges of causing very serious injuries. The judge ruled for provisional detention without bail given the severity of the alleged crimes committed within the family home.

The victim has been placed under the legal guardianship of the DGPPIA, the regional child protection agency. The investigation remains ongoing to determine the full extent of the injuries suffered by the newborn.
