Park Güell in Barcelona will undergo a significant renovation of its lighting system starting in autumn, with an investment of six million euros, to enhance visitor safety and experience.

This initiative is part of the Park Güell Strategic Plan 2023-2027 and primarily aims to consolidate the park as an accessible urban space for the enjoyment of citizens. The works, which will last for a year and a half, will be carried out in phases to minimize disruption to users.
The project includes improving lighting on paths and heritage areas, with the installation of new light points integrated into the environment. The existing Wi-Fi network will be reinforced, and the video surveillance system will be updated to increase visitors' sense of security and comfort, without compromising the site's historical value.
Among the areas that will benefit from this renovation are the Camí de Dalt, the Passeig de les Palmeres, and the connecting staircases, as well as the staircases of the Jardins d'Àustria and the children's play area on Olot Street. The new system will be more energy-efficient and have a low environmental impact.
Additionally, the ornamental lighting of the Sala Hipòstila and the Turó de les Tres Creus will be renewed. The interior of the rainwater reservoir of the Sala Hipòstila, one of the original cisterns designed by Gaudí currently being restored to optimize the park's water resources, will also be illuminated. The project also includes the restoration of the staircase connecting the Passeig de les Palmeres with the Camí de Dalt, preserving the original stone, and the comprehensive renovation of the bar located inside the park, with access from Olot Street.
