Barcelona's Park Güell will undertake a comprehensive renovation of all its regulated pavements in 2027, with a budget of 295,000 euros allocated for project drafting and construction management.

This initiative, managed by Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM), the municipal company responsible for the park, is currently in the proposal evaluation phase. Five companies have submitted bids for the tender to handle the drafting of the basic and executive projects, as well as construction management and health and safety coordination.
The renovation of the pavements, originally designed by Antoni Gaudí, will be carried out without disrupting the park's normal operations. The goal is to replace the current pavements with new ones that maintain the heritage criteria but offer superior durability and sustainability.
Taking advantage of these works, the renovation of underground facilities will also be undertaken where necessary. Additionally, the project includes the creation of new shaded areas and the improvement of children's play areas and rest zones for visitors.
Once the executive project is approved, a new tender process, scheduled for the first quarter of 2027, will be opened to award the execution of the works. These improvements are part of the centenary celebration of Park Güell's inauguration as a public park, which is being marked this year with various activities.
Recently, the entity Abacus won the bid to organize the activities and workshops planned for the commemoration. However, a controversy with local neighborhood associations, critical of the park's management and tourist crowds, led to the cancellation of a popular dinner that the Barcelona City Council had planned for April 26.
