Around 400 families in Badalona are still waiting for building renovations in February 2026, two years after the fatal collapse on Canigó street that claimed three lives.

The situation in the Illa Canigó block has stagnated due to high renovation costs, averaging 25,000 euros per unit. Due to financial difficulties, several apartments supported by wooden beams have appeared on real estate portals with prices ranging from 80,000 to 170,000 euros.

"In desperate situations, people seek desperate solutions and try to sell because they are hopeless due to the lack of answers."

The Badalona City Council maintains it cannot guarantee regional government loans for legal reasons. Currently, 37 families from buildings 7 and 9 have yet to return to their homes.
