Plaça d'Ángel Pestaña in Barcelona's La Prosperitat neighborhood becomes Prospe Beach each July since 1985, an artificial beach offering summer activities to residents.

Since 1985, the La Prosperitat neighborhood in Barcelona has enjoyed an improvised beach every July, known as Prospe Beach. This initiative transforms Plaça d'Ángel Pestaña, covering it with tons of sand for several weeks to bring a seaside atmosphere to this neighborhood far from the coast.
The space becomes a hub for summer activities. One of the most anticipated events is the beach volleyball tournament, held continuously since 1996. Additionally, Prospe Beach hosts concert sessions and open-air cinema screenings, serving as a nighttime entertainment center.
During the mornings, the square fills with local families and summer camps ('casals d'estiu'), who often set up inflatable pools to cope with the high temperatures. This area becomes a meeting point for the community.
Prospe Beach will conclude its season this weekend, July 17th and 18th, with a foam party and a fire show, marking the end of another edition of this Barcelona summer tradition.
