Housing rights activists in Barcelona gathered this Wednesday at Sant Agustí street in the Gràcia district to prevent the eviction of Txema Escorsa, the first resident facing expulsion from the building.

The protest, organized by the Sindicat de Llogateres, targets the investment fund New Amsterdam Developers (NAD). Since purchasing the property in 2023, the fund has been accused of replacing long-term residents with high-priced international colivings. The company has already faced six fines from Barcelona City Council for unauthorized construction work.
Activists spent the night camping outside the building to block the judicial commission and Mossos d'Esquadra police officers. Local authorities and the Ombudsman have called for a negotiated solution similar to the one achieved at Casa Orsola last year.
