The PSU union strongly criticized the Albiol Municipal Government in Badalona this February 2026, accusing it of jeopardizing the safety of Urban Guard officers due to lack of investment and union dialogue.

The union statement warns of an “increasingly serious” situation at the Turó d’en Caritg police facilities. The PSU considers the recent theft of an officer's motorcycle, which was parked inside the Urban Guard compound, to be “extremely serious,” arguing that it highlights the lack of security measures at the station and unauthorized access issues.
In addition to security concerns, the PSU denounces the deterioration of the facilities, claiming that officers work in “absolutely appalling conditions.” They cite toilets and showers that have been broken for months and insufficient changing rooms, especially for female officers, forcing some to change in the hallways. The poor condition of the police vehicle fleet due to deficient maintenance is also highlighted.

If urgent action is not taken, any serious incident that may occur will have clear political accountability.

The union also criticizes the political management of the Popular Party, describing the municipal executive as “the least dialoguing” they have ever encountered. The PSU points out that Badalona has been without a Security Councillor for months and criticizes the Human Resources Councillor for not meeting with union organizations for over a year.
In parallel, the PSU criticizes the appointment of the new superintendent, Óscar Parada. The union explains that the selection process was surrounded by controversy, as there was only one applicant and other candidates reported alleged irregularities and lack of transparency to the City Council and the Catalan Anti-Fraud Office.
