Barcelona and Montserrat's public transport network has activated a special operation for June 9 and 10, coinciding with the Pope's visit, to ensure citizen mobility.

On the occasion of Pope Leo XIV's visit to Barcelona and Montserrat on June 9 and 10, a significant increase in public transport services has been planned to accommodate the expected high attendance. Major operators such as Metro, Bus, FGC, Rodalies, and the Tram have deployed special measures to facilitate mobility.
Both FGC and Rodalies have announced an extraordinary reinforcement. FGC will increase services on metropolitan lines and access routes to Montserrat. Specifically, on Tuesday, the Vallès line (S1 and S2) will add 20 new services, and the L8 line (Molí Nou) will add eight. Trains on lines R5 (Manresa) and R6 (Igualada) will operate with double composition from 3:00 PM.
For its part, Rodalies will offer nearly 17,000 additional seats per hour on lines R1 and R4, and around 20,000 on R2 Nord and Sud. Additionally, 35 information staff and 120 security agents will be present at Catalunya stations.
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) will reinforce the metro service, particularly on lines L1, L3, and L5, connecting to the Olympic Stadium, with a notable increase around 9:30 PM. Some bus routes will modify their itineraries in Montjuïc, and a special shuttle service will operate between Plaça d'Espanya and the Stadium, in addition to increasing the frequency of the Montjuïc Funicular.
For the visit to the Sagrada Família on Wednesday, the metro will be the recommended option due to planned traffic closures. TMB will intensify services on lines L2, L4, L3, and L5. The Sagrada Família station will remain closed all day, and trains on lines L2 and L5 will not stop there. The Verdaguer station (L4) will restrict entry during the afternoon peak hour.
The visit to Montserrat on Wednesday morning will also feature a special FGC operation, with 22 new services on the Vallès line and four on the Anoia line, as well as services with double-composition trains and shuttle buses. Access to the Abbey will require prior reservation.
