Established in 1914, the venue originally served as a wine shop for the family's vineyard in El Bruc. Quim Pérez, the fourth generation at the helm, explains that the business evolved from a simple wine cellar into a gastronomic landmark where high-quality tinned goods are the undisputed stars.
“"My family produced wine in El Bruc, and my great-grandfather decided to open three sales points in Barcelona to sell his own wine directly."
The bar only officially became Quimet & Quimet in the late 1970s. Today, it is famous for its creative combinations, such as salmon with thick yogurt and truffle honey, or traditional sardines enhanced with peppers and chili. The small space remains a favorite for both locals and international travelers.
“"The most glamorous gastronomic product in existence is caviar; and it comes in a tin."
Despite its global fame, the family refuses to expand to other locations, prioritizing the authentic atmosphere of their original Poble-sec home, where five generations have lived and worked since the early 20th century.
