Renowned journalist Ramon Pellicer, a resident of Sarrià for 26 years, participated in the program ‘Mirador Barcelona’ on bàsics, where he shared his perspective on the city. Pellicer, with an extensive career in Catalan television and radio, compared Barcelona with Madrid, stating that the Catalan capital "has nothing to envy Madrid".

According to Pellicer, Madrid benefits from "privileges as the capital of the State" which grant it superior budgets, while Barcelona lacks this institutional advantage. However, he believes Madrid could envy aspects of Barcelona, such as "its proximity to the sea," an element the Spanish capital does not possess.

Pellicer's journalistic calling began at the parish of Sant Pancràs, in his native neighborhood of Poblenou (district of Sant Martí), where a reading during mass sparked his interest in communication. "I was congratulated a lot, and I liked it, I felt very good," he recalls of that pivotal moment.

Born in Barcelona, Pellicer has only lived in Madrid for four years and has always felt "rooted" in the Catalan capital, stating that he feels "very comfortable here" and that he feels "stranger when I am outside the city than when I am at home".

The journalist also reflected on the urban transformation of neighborhoods like Poblenou, lamenting the loss of "the warmth that absolute proximity neighbors provided." In this regard, he advocated for a city with "more spaces for cycling and sustainable mobility," calling for the expansion of bike lanes, especially in areas like Bona Nova promenade.

Despite having left the daily routine of news programs, Pellicer assures he does not miss "that newsroom rush" and is exploring new projects "with satisfaction," emphasizing the responsibility of reporting with rigor.

Finally, he expressed his wish for Barcelona to continue growing, while acknowledging the geographical limitations imposed by the sea, mountains, and rivers.
