Catalan pilot Ramon Vallès has become a social media phenomenon through his videos explaining safety protocols and aviation facts to help passengers overcome their fear of flying.

With nearly 30 years of cockpit experience, Vallès uses platforms like TikTok to bring the world of aviation closer to the public. He aims to break the barrier of opacity established after the 9/11 attacks, when cockpits were armored for security reasons.

"A plane does not fall because of turbulence. Very strong turbulence only causes harm to passengers who are not buckled in."

The pilot emphasizes that aviation safety is built on constant training. Although he has declared Mayday several times due to medical or technical emergencies, he reminds passengers that professionals are trained to stay ahead of any critical situation.
To combat irrational fear, Vallès advises against watching accident videos before a flight and suggests keeping the mind busy. While he does not rule out sedatives, he warns that over-medication can be dangerous if an emergency evacuation is required.
