Renfe has announced a reinforcement of services on the R1 and R2 Rodalies lines in Catalonia to address the increase in mobility during the summer months, with a special operation in place until October 1st.

Starting this weekend, line R1, connecting L'Hospitalet de Llobregat with Maçanet-Massanes, will add seven extra trains per direction on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays in the section between Barcelona and Calella.
Regarding frequency, between 10 AM and 12 PM, a train will run every ten minutes from Barcelona-Plaça de Catalunya station towards Mataró. In the afternoon, between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM, the service will also feature trains every ten minutes from Mataró to the Catalan capital, improving the current fifteen-minute frequency.
For line R2, the company will strengthen the service at Platja de Castelldefels station starting the weekend of June 13th and 14th with seventeen additional trains on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Heading south from Barcelona, eight new frequencies will be added between 9 AM and 1 PM. In the opposite direction, towards Barcelona, nine frequencies will be added between 4 PM and 8 PM.
The objective of this reinforcement plan is to adapt the train service to the increase in summer demand and ensure fluid mobility to key points of interest along the coast, Renfe specified.
