Andorra Firefighters conducted a rescue operation during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday for two climbers who were trapped on the Raiers climbing route, in the municipality of Espot, due to an intense storm.
According to information shared by the Generalitat de Catalunya Firefighters on the social network X, the climbers were unable to continue their ascent after being caught by adverse weather conditions in the final section of the route.
Once the storm subsided, a helicopter from Andorra Firefighters evacuated them to La Seu d'Urgell. From there, they were transferred to a hospital for necessary medical examination.
The rescue operation also involved personnel from the Special Actions Support Group (GRAE) of the Generalitat Firefighters. Additionally, there was collaboration from the staff of the Estany Gento funicular, which opened the facility to facilitate access to rescue areas.
