Dozens of farmers organized by Revolta Pagesa started a march with tractors from nine points across Catalonia towards Barcelona this morning, two years after the major tractor protest, to denounce excessive bureaucracy and unfair competition.

The groups of farmers, called by the agrarian movement Revolta Pagesa, departed early this morning from nine different points across the Catalan territory. By mid-morning, the columns began grouping in key towns such as Molins de Rei and La Roca del Vallès, aiming to reach the Department of Agriculture, located on the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes in Barcelona, starting at 12:00 hours.
This mobilization occurs exactly two years after the historic tractor protest that paralyzed the center of the Catalan capital. The main goal of Revolta Pagesa is to highlight that the sector continues to suffer from excessive bureaucracy and competition they deem unfair.

"We intend to bring to the table the recurring complaints of the sector, such as the excessive bureaucracy imposed on farmers, and continue the protest against the agreement between the EU and Mercosur."

Regarding logistics, farmers coming from the Girona area chose to travel via the C-35 instead of the AP-7, and plan to access Barcelona through routes like the C-17 up to the Avinguda Meridiana. Sources from the Servei Català del Trànsit (Catalan Traffic Service) told the EFE agency that, so far, traffic jams have been minimal, as the columns have occupied only one lane and combined tractors with private vehicles.
While about 2,000 tractors entered the capital two years ago, a more symbolic mobilization is expected this time. The farmers plan to spend the night in front of the Department of Agriculture, replicating the action they carried out during the previous protest.
