The facility, spanning over 2,300 square meters in the former Sallarès Deu factory, will combine training, innovation, and activities linked to the gastronomic sector. This initiative by the Sabadell City Council seeks to position the locality as a reference in culinary training in Catalonia, Spain, and Southern Europe.
“"We want to be a reference in Catalonia, in Spain, and in Southern Europe for gastronomic training."
The total investment for this center has been 6.6 million euros, of which 2.8 million come from EDUSI European funds and the rest from municipal funds. In addition to the rehabilitation of the historic industrial site, which had been closed for two decades, the project includes future expansions in annexed spaces totaling over 1,800 square meters.
The school features a professional kitchen of almost 200 square meters, equipped for 32 students, theoretical classrooms with audiovisual technology, coworking spaces, bar, restaurant, and sommelier workshops, as well as a main hall with capacity for 80 people. These facilities will also be able to host presentations, demonstrations, and other activities related to the sector.
The first training courses will begin in the coming days with the progressive transfer of restaurant-related courses and programs from Vapor Llonch. In this initial phase, over 600 students are expected to enroll in occupational, professional, and specialized training. The city council plans a public-private collaboration for the project's development and will open a public tender before the end of the year to select specialized operators and partners for the management and programming of the center.
The municipal government has emphasized that the objective is not only to recover industrial heritage but also to generate economic activity and job opportunities linked to catering and gastronomy. The proximity to Barcelona and the growth of the gastronomic sector place Sabadell in a favorable position to attract projects and economic activity.
