The Sagrada Família Construction Board announced this Tuesday that negotiations with Barcelona City Council regarding the Glory facade staircase are in an advanced stage.

Board president Esteve Camps stated that a deal to complete Antoni Gaudí's original vision is 'very close.' The project, estimated to take ten years, follows the completion of the Jesus Christ Tower and focuses on the main entrance over Mallorca Street.

"We see the closing of an agreement that allows the construction to be unblocked as being very close."

The staircase has been a controversial issue as it could impact nearly 1,000 homes. However, Camps welcomed recent comments from Deputy Mayor Jordi Valls, who assured that no residents would be left homeless, signaling that talks are moving in the right direction.
Additionally, chief architect Jordi Faulí confirmed the temple's wish for Pope Leo XIV to lead the mass commemorating the centenary of Gaudí's death on June 10, the same day the central tower will be inaugurated.
