The Department of Health has introduced a comprehensive plan for Parkinson's and atypical parkinsonism patients, but its implementation raises concerns due to a lack of resources.

Last Tuesday, the Department of Health of the Generalitat presented the Plan for the care of people affected by Parkinson's disease and atypical parkinsonisms. This document represents the most complete overview ever conducted on these diseases, with the collaboration of medical professionals, nursing staff, patients, and caregivers.
The plan outlines the need for comprehensive care, from diagnosis to palliative therapies, considering the disease as chronic. It foresees territorialized care, ensuring all patients are attended to throughout the country, and transversal care, as Parkinson's affects various medical specialties. It is also considered linear, as the disease persists throughout the patient's life.

Despite the detailed description of needs, the implementation of the plan's objectives is hampered by a lack of resources in public healthcare. Although the plan exists, it remains to be seen how its execution will be carried out.
