The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, was discharged from the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital this Friday following favorable clinical recovery from pubic osteomyelitis.

Illa was admitted to the hospital on February 17 due to a bacterial infection that caused pubic osteomyelitis. Despite the clinical improvement, treatment with the Vall d’Hebron Home Hospitalization team could last up to six more weeks, according to doctors.

"He has recovered strength, especially in the affected lower limbs. We celebrate this rapid recovery with all of you."

Dr. Albert Salazar, managing director of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, held a press conference to detail the president's health status, emphasizing that the evolution has been “considerable” and that his good prior physical condition likely contributed to the positive outcome.
The medical team, which includes Dr. Dolors Rodríguez and Dr. Francesc Xavier Jiménez, confirmed that Salvador Illa left the hospital on his own two feet (with crutches), highly motivated and eager to return to his duties. Although he can resume desk work, he is still unable to travel.
