President Salvador Illa will resume his official duties leading the Government of Catalonia in Barcelona this Monday, February 16, after recovering from a serious infection.

Illa was admitted to the Vall d'Hebron Hospital on January 17 suffering from pelvic osteomyelitis, which caused severe pain and loss of leg strength. After weeks of antibiotic treatment, doctors have cleared him to return to work.
While the President was on leave, Minister Albert Dalmau managed the regional government during a period marked by a fatal train accident in Gelida and several public sector strikes.
The President's return is crucial for the 2026 budget negotiations, as the administration seeks support from ERC and Comuns to pass the financial plan.
