The initiative, first launched last summer, provides tourism establishments with updated information on primary care centers and the relevant Urgency Centers for Primary Care (CUAP). This allows them to direct tourists with low-complexity conditions to the most suitable healthcare resource, promoting rational use of health services and reserving hospitals for more severe cases.
The results from the 2025 campaign support its continuation. The CUAPs have become key facilities for low-complexity emergencies. The CUAP of Cambrils saw a slight decrease in activity but maintained high volume, while the CUAP of Salou experienced a significant increase. The CUAP of Reus maintained stable activity. Hospital activity for low-complexity conditions remained lower than at CUAPs, indicating better resource utilization.
The manager of the Camp de Tarragona Health Region, Marta Milà, highlighted the positive experience of the first year and the importance of continued collaboration for better care and coordination. Meanwhile, the president of FEHT, Berta Cabré, emphasized the role of tourist establishments as the first point of contact for visitors and how they contribute to the destination's quality.
