The Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM) has activated a plan to reinforce and extend public transport services in Barcelona for the Sant Joan 2026 celebration. The aim is to ensure safe and continuous travel throughout the night.
Barcelona's metro will offer uninterrupted service for 43 consecutive hours, from 5:00 AM on Tuesday, June 23rd, to 12:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24th. Up to 18 additional trains will be deployed to cover peak demand periods.
The TRAM will also operate throughout the night of June 23rd on all its lines, except T6, with frequencies ranging from 15 to 30 minutes. Meanwhile, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) will extend its service until 2:00 AM, resuming operations at 5:00 AM on Wednesday.
Rodalies de Catalunya will strengthen its offering with five special trains on lines R1 and R2 Sud, and increase capacity on services towards the Garraf and Maresme coastlines. Frequencies of approximately 30 minutes are planned on the main corridors.
Night buses, including the AMB's Nitbus and those operated by the Generalitat, will run on schedules similar to weekend services, with punctual reinforcements to meet increased demand in metropolitan area municipalities.
All operators have planned for increased staffing on trains, at stations, and in customer service points, particularly in high-traffic areas like the coastline and city center. Cleaning, maintenance, and security tasks will also be intensified.
Authorities recommend using public transport to avoid traffic issues on the night of June 23rd, when thousands of people travel to beaches and gathering spots to celebrate the start of summer.
