The traditional Sant Medir festival returned to Gràcia this March 3rd, filling the streets with excitement and a parade featuring 160 horses and 18 carriages.

This year's celebration saw 26 tons of candy thrown to the crowds in Gràcia, Sarrià, and la Bordeta. Most of the sweets provided this year were soft candies, a new preference for the 21 groups participating in the event.

"In 41 years, I have only missed one Sant Medir."

Participating in the tradition requires a significant investment. Each romeu spends between 600 and 700 euros on average to cover the costs of horses, vehicles, and the large quantities of candy distributed during the parade.
