The business, located at number 20 on Riego Street, was founded in 1943. The current barber started working there at a very young age, alongside his father, and has been in charge since the 1950s. Despite his advanced age, he continues to open the barbershop daily in the Sants neighborhood.
His dedication to the craft has been constant, with the only exceptions being a two-year stint in a bakery and military service. He recalls performing his first service at just 7 years old, shaving a family acquaintance who was in a hurry. This fortuitous experience marked the beginning of his long professional career.
“"It was my first time. I made a small cut, but the gentleman told me it was fine and that he would return the following week for another shave. And that's how I started."
The establishment is a true miniature museum, with walls adorned with photographs and drawings that evoke memories. Among the most cherished items are a shaving bowl over 100 years old, used to wet the brush, and a child's rocking horse-shaped seat acquired in the 1950s. This latter item is particularly significant, as even today, former clients recall sitting on it as children.
The barbershop is not just a workplace, but also a meeting point and a daily stimulus for the barber, who expresses his desire to be remembered as the barber of Riego Street.
