A severe windstorm has put Catalonia on high alert this Thursday, with wind gusts exceeding 160 km/h in Montseny and causing several injuries across the region.

The Fire Brigade has carried out 622 operations as of 9:00 AM, mostly in the Barcelona metropolitan area and Girona. The 112 emergency line received 1,800 calls regarding fallen trees and damaged buildings. In Barcelona, the port recorded gusts of 105 km/h, potentially setting a new local record.

Medical services treated 25 people, with five requiring hospital transfer. The most serious incident occurred in Sant Boi de Llobregat, where a falling tree injured three workers. Authorities recommend avoiding unnecessary travel as the red alert remains active in several counties.
