The Meteorological Service forecasts a significant weather change in Catalonia starting this March weekend, as an Atlantic storm brings Saharan dust, fog, and light precipitation to the region.

After weeks of anticyclonic stability, a cold isolated storm located between the Gulf of Cádiz and the Canary Islands will disrupt the atmospheric circulation. This will result in increased cloud cover and a cooler, more humid environment across the territory.
On Saturday, March 1st, calima (Saharan dust) and maritime fog will be prevalent. Light rain is expected in the western half of Catalonia by the afternoon, with snow levels in the Pyrenees reaching 1,600 meters.
By Sunday and early next week, the sky will remain hazy. Meteorologists do not rule out muddy rain, especially in the central pre-coastal areas and the Central Depression, as temperatures slightly drop due to maritime air flows.
