The Spanish Supreme Court has annulled a 2018 reform of FC Barcelona's statutes that classified the paid transfer of season tickets as a serious infringement in Barcelona.

The ruling supports a group of club members represented by lawyer Luis Miralbell. These members were sanctioned following a match against Real Madrid in May 2018. The court found that Josep Maria Bartomeu's board did not adequately explain the changes to the general membership.

"More than 2,800 members were barred from the stadium for an entire season due to alleged irregular transfers."

The court emphasized that while FC Barcelona has over 110.000 members, the use of delegate assemblies does not waive the right of every individual member to be informed about rules affecting their status.
