The works, which also include the upgrade of track equipment at Santa Eulàlia, will necessitate the closure of service in this section of the L1. The project has a budget of 11.5 million euros.
As a primary alternative, passengers can use the existing metro network, connecting to lines L9 and L10 Sud at Torrassa, and to L5 at Plaça de Sants. Connections with Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya at Avinguda Carrilet and with Rodalies at Rambla Just Oliveras are also proposed.
TMB will also implement an alternative bus service to cover the affected section with variable intervals: between 4 and 9 minutes on weekdays, 5 to 10 minutes on Saturdays, and 6 to 11 minutes on Sundays. The service will use 18 articulated buses on weekdays, 13 on Saturdays, and 11 on holidays.
The route for the alternative buses will start at Carrer de Sants (towards Florida) and at Avinguda del Masnou (towards Plaça de Sants), with estimated journey times of 32 minutes towards Florida and 25 minutes towards Plaça de Sants.
An information campaign, which began last Friday, will be intensified with more personnel at over 15 network points, particularly at the Santa Eulàlia and Mercat Nou stations. Over 2100 hours of information services are planned.
The affected section sees an average of 43,000 daily validations on weekdays in July and around 36,000 in August.
