Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is starting track renovation works on the L1 metro line this Friday, affecting the section between Florida and Plaça de Sants stations until August 28.

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has launched works this Friday to renovate the tracks and improve the reliability of the Line 1 (L1) metro between the Santa Eulàlia and Mercat Nou stations. These works, which include updating the track equipment providing access to the Santa Eulàlia workshop, will lead to the closure of the section between the Florida and Plaça de Sants stations from today, July 17, until August 28. The total budget for these works amounts to 11.5 million euros.
As the main alternative, passengers can use the same metro network by connecting to Lines 9 and 10 South at Torrassa station, and to L5 at Plaça de Sants. Connections with Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) at Avinguda Carrilet station and with Rodalies (commuter rail) at Rambla Just Oliveras are also proposed as alternatives.
Additionally, TMB will provide an alternative bus service covering the affected section. This service will run with intervals of 4 to 9 minutes on weekdays, 5 to 10 minutes on Saturdays, and 6 to 11 minutes on Sundays and holidays. The fleet will consist of 18 articulated buses on weekdays, 13 on Saturdays, and 11 on holidays. The route towards Florida will start on Carrer de Sants, next to Plaça de Sants, and end at Avinguda del Masnou. In the direction of Plaça de Sants, the service will begin at Avinguda del Masnou with Carrer Florida and conclude on Carrer de Sants. The estimated journey time is 32 minutes towards Florida and 25 minutes towards Plaça de Sants.
The information campaign with staff, which began last Friday, will be intensified starting today with increased presence at over 15 key points across the network. More than 2100 hours of informational support are planned, with special reinforcements at the Santa Eulàlia and Mercat Nou stations. The average daily number of validations in the affected section is approximately 43,000 on weekdays in July and around 36,000 in August.
