“"It has been in power for too long without a majority, blaming everything on the right, but making deals with them when it suits. It breaches agreements, approves policies behind the parliament's back, and fails to implement those that are approved. The icing on the cake is the corruption cases surrounding it. What democratic argument does it have left not to call elections?"

The spokesperson for Junts in the Spanish Congress has voiced dissatisfaction with the Spanish Government's management, alleging it uses Catalonia for propaganda and disregards its institutions, while the president has defended his policies.
During a control session held on April 22, 2026, the Junts representative in the Spanish Congress accused the Government of undermining Catalan institutions and impoverishing the citizenry. In her view, the central executive holds power without a clear majority, blaming the right for all problems but making deals with them when convenient.
The spokesperson also lamented that Catalans, despite generating wealth and sustaining the system, are paying for Spain's party, while the Government stifles the middle and working classes with taxes. She criticized the PSOE for impoverishing people only to subsidize them later, imposing regularizations that are not paid for, and making the citizens of Catalonia bear the costs.
For his part, the Spanish Government president expressed his surprise at Junts' discomfort regarding an international progressive leaders' meeting held in Barcelona. He argued that the impoverishment of citizens is caused by wars and recalled the aid approved by his executive to support families and businesses.
Regarding the regularization of immigrants, the president questioned the issue of recognizing rights for foreigners already residing and working in the state, highlighting immigration's contribution to economic growth and the continuous decrease in unemployment. He concluded that his government will recognize rights and work to improve Catalonia and Spain.
