The first Correllengua Agermanat began this Sunday in Prada de Conflent, aiming to traverse Catalan-speaking territories with a shared flame that will reach Alghero on May 5.

This symbolic race, spanning 1,500 kilometers across seventeen stages and 500 municipalities, commenced its journey at the cemetery of Prada, the resting place of Pompeu Fabra, a key figure in the standardization of the Catalan language. The route will combine sections on foot and by bicycle to facilitate participation from various entities.
From the capital of Conflent, the Correllengua Agermanat will split into two itineraries: one through the western part of the Principality and another through the eastern part. Both routes will converge in Tarragona on April 23, coinciding with Sant Jordi's Day. The flame will continue its journey through various locations such as Tortosa, La Pobla Tornesa, València, Altea, and Elx, before crossing the sea to the Balearic Islands, passing through Formentera, Eivissa, Menorca, and Mallorca.
Beyond its sporting aspect, the event will feature an extensive cultural program, including concerts, manifesto readings, and popular festivities. Central events will take place on April 21 in Barcelona, with the performance of the anthem Amb el cor, and in València, where the race's arrival will coincide with the April 25 Diada demonstration and a concert by the group La Gossa Sorda in Picassent.
The Correllengua, inspired by the Basque Korrika, originated in Mallorca in 1995 with the aim of promoting the normalization of the Catalan language. The initiative quickly spread, reaching the Valencian Country in the autumn of the same year and the Principality in 1997, organized by the Coordinadora d'Associacions per la Llengua Catalana (CAL). This 2026, youth groups from all territories have promoted this united edition.
