Thousands of educators from across Catalonia brought central Barcelona to a standstill this Friday in a massive mobilization demanding improved working conditions and the protection of public education.

The strike saw significant participation from the Terres de l'Ebre region, where the USTEC union reported an 86% turnout. Hundreds of teachers traveled from southern towns to join the Diagonal Column at Francesc Macià Square.

"We have never seen this before, this capacity to self-organize. We are pleasantly surprised and realizing the strength we have in the territory."

Protesters marched through the city to the Catalan Parliament. Key demands include reversing budget cuts, reducing bureaucracy, and increasing support staff to manage classroom diversity, which many describe as an unsustainable situation.
