Pope Leo XIV will travel a stretch of Barcelona's Eixample district in a 'popemobile' this Wednesday afternoon, an accessible route for the public between Diagonal and Sagrada Família.

This Wednesday afternoon, Pope Leo XIV will undertake a journey of approximately one kilometer along Rosselló street, from Diagonal to the Sagrada Família, starting at 7 PM. This will be the most accessible opportunity to see the Pontiff in the Catalan capital, as other events require tickets or invitations.
To secure a good viewing spot among the crowd, arriving early is recommended. Organizers have opened access to the affected section of Rosselló street from 12 PM. According to Xavier Paton, manager of Economic Promotion at the City Council and responsible for coordination, "the entire route along Rosselló will be good; whoever arrives first can choose."
Estimates from the Guardia Urbana and Mossos d'Esquadra anticipate an attendance of around 70,000 people to witness the 'popemobile' pass, which will cover the 1,100 meters in approximately 15 minutes. The security operation will involve nearly 6,000 personnel from various police forces.
The weather forecast from Meteocat indicates an afternoon with variable cloudiness but no precipitation in Barcelona, with temperatures around 21-22ºC. Nevertheless, it is advisable to bring water, sun protection, and hats to cope with the heat among the crowd.
The route will be closed to conventional traffic. The Sagrada Família metro station will remain closed all day, and lines L2 and L5 will run without stopping there. At the Verdaguer station (L4), passengers will only be allowed to exit during peak hours. The subway system will be reinforced with increased train services and reduced intervals to manage the expected demand.
The tram, particularly the T4 line of Trambesòs, will also have its frequency increased until 11 PM to serve the Sagrada Família area, with additional staff at the stops.
