The Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating a shooting that took place on Sunday evening in the Sant Roc neighborhood of Badalona, in which a girl of about ten years old was seriously injured. According to initial reports, the minor was not the direct target of the shooting but was allegedly hit by a ricocheted projectile. Her life is not in danger.
The Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, has reported the deployment of Mossos riot units to the area to control the situation. The Criminal Investigation Division has taken charge of the investigation.

The police chief of the northern metropolitan region, Antoni Sánchez, has indicated that the main hypothesis is that the shooting is related to drug trafficking and possible confrontations between criminal gangs. Minister Parlon has also pointed to a possible "confrontation between families" and confirmed that the girl did not suffer serious injuries.
The Mossos link these events to various drug trafficking gangs competing for control of the illegal business. It is not ruled out that it could be related to another shooting that occurred last Tuesday in the same area, although it is still too early to confirm.

The mayor of Badalona, Xavier Garcia Albiol, has described those responsible for these acts as "scum" and has called for increased police presence and greater operational capacity for the Mossos d'Esquadra to combat such incidents.
