The incident took place around 5:30 PM at the intersection of Roger de Llúria street and Valencia street. According to municipal sources, the incident was caused by a branch rather than the entire tree falling, during a day marked by heavy rain in the city.
Personnel from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) and the Guàrdia Urbana arrived at the scene and closed the road to ensure pedestrian safety and facilitate the removal of the debris. Workers from Parcs i Jardins were responsible for cutting the branch to clear the road.
The incident caused disruptions to public transport services. Specifically, the H10 bus line operated by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) had to modify its route and temporarily suspended two stops in the affected area.
The city council has confirmed that technicians from Parcs i Jardins have launched an investigation to determine the exact causes that led to the branch falling from the tree.
