Residents of the Vallbona neighborhood in Barcelona have voiced their frustration this February over the constant flow of heavy vehicles and pollution caused by the R2 railway undergrounding project.

The works managed by Adif have significantly impacted the area, including the removal of the Racing Vallbona football pitch and the installation of a concrete plant at La Ponderosa to support the massive infrastructure project.

"We have a lot of noise and especially dust, which gets into your house, the dust from the material plus the pollution generated by the trucks."

A major point of contention is the use of old access roads near residential buildings on Granja Vella street. Although a new bridge was opened six months ago, trucks continue to pass directly in front of homes instead of using the new infrastructure.
Adif stated that the high volume of traffic is normal for a project of this scale. They explained that the new bridge cannot be used for trucks yet due to ongoing works, but it will be utilized in a future phase of the construction.
