Official figures indicate that forest fires have affected 1,067 hectares in the province of Barcelona so far this year. This figure already exceeds the complete balance of the last two campaigns of the Forest Fire Information and Surveillance Plan (PVI), despite there being six weeks left in the summer deployment. One of the most significant fires occurred in Sentmenat, burning 184 hectares.
Of the total area burned in the province, 551 hectares were wooded forest, 271 non-wooded forest, 188 non-forest land, and 57 pastures. In the province as a whole, 209 fires have been recorded, of which 91% (191) were forest fires. Of these, 21 started within the Network of Natural Parks of the Diputació de Barcelona. The regions with the most recorded fires are Vallès Occidental (45), Baix Llobregat (32), Vallès Oriental (26), and Maresme (23).
The Information and Surveillance Plan (PVI), activated by the Diputació de Barcelona until August 31st, has informed 28,701 people in urbanizations, roads, and natural spaces. Additionally, it has detected 1,694 dumps, of which 547 were removed by civic agents. 1,247 incidents on power lines have also been reported to the relevant companies, and 46 dissuasions of fire-risk activities have been carried out. The deployment has inspected 1,616 water points and recorded 133 incidents on forest roads and tracks.
