A 46-year-old woman died early Friday morning at Barcelona's Vall d'Hebron Hospital after part of a factory roof collapsed on her during the peak of Storm Nils.

The Health Ministry confirmed the fatality following a day of extreme weather across Catalonia. Six other individuals remain in hospital, including a 22-year-old Civil Protection volunteer who is currently in critical condition.
The storm caused widespread disruption on Thursday, leading to the closure of schools and the cancellation of approximately 100 flights at Barcelona-El Prat Airport. Emergency services handled over 4,500 calls, a record number for a wind-related event in the area.
Wind speeds peaked at 166 km/h in the Vallès Oriental region, while Barcelona recorded gusts of 105 km/h. Authorities have since lowered the emergency alert level as conditions began to stabilize late Thursday night.
